HOW IT WORKS

How to get a route onto Garmin

  1. 01

    Import and check the GPX

Load the route and verify distance, elevation gain and point count.

  2. 02

Prepare the route for the device

Simplify an oversized file under the point limit and optionally add navigation points and waypoints.

  3. 03

    Export and upload to Garmin

Download a GPX (free) or a FIT course (Premium, coming soon) and upload it via Garmin Connect, or copy the GPX into the device's GPX folder.

Frequently asked questions

GPX, FIT or TCX — which for Garmin?+

A FIT course gives the most reliable navigation and course points. GPX is enough for simple track following. TCX is a middle ground with course points for older devices.

Why does Garmin Connect reject my GPX?+

Usually too many points, multiple segments or missing data. Simplify the route and clean up segments before exporting.

Does this work on Fenix, Forerunner and Edge?+

Yes. The steps apply to Garmin watches (Fenix, Forerunner) and Edge bike computers — only the upload method differs (Connect vs. folder).
